Antique Quilt Indigo resist French 18th century RARE textile vintage France old

  
Hello and thank you for looking. A RARE BEAUTY is a wonderful, 18th century Indigo resist quilt dating from c1775, I've never seen this pattern in all of my years!

Amazing to find so large!! This gorgeous quilt has 2 sided, one with beautifully faded indigo blue ground, and small leaf and floral design.

The backing is STUNNING also, indigo resist ground with red hand block printed design over the top. This quilt uses a light cotton batting between the layers. A STUNNING and large quilt, very very rare indeed to find in such lovely condition and being so large! This quilt is hand stitched and hand quilted. (please see condition details below).

MEASUREMENTS : this textile measures approximately 94 inches long by 74 inches wide!! CONDITION This quilt is in original, as found condition. This quilt has been hand washed in the recent past.

There is staining in places. The edge along one side is cut rather than stitched closed.

This can be hand stitched closed now. There are small holes in the indigo to be expected on each side. I've seen many of these fabulous quilts in my time, and compare to most this quilt is in wonderful condition indeed, however it's not without flaws! (please see photographs) patches of small holes dotted here and there.
