One of the most beautiful botanical prints! This lovely bed curtain panel date c 1870 and is block printed on cotton. Wonderful woven cotton this textile would have been used as a bed curtain and has a beautiful ruffle (reversed) at the top of the panel. This has a lovely linen tape and 2 original rings still remain.
Naturalistic representations of flowers on both clothing and furnishing fabrics were very popular during the second half of the 19th century and this textile could be slightly earlier than 1870. This botanical print was most likely inspired by botanical engravings. This is an extremely high quality textile, the printing is block printed on to a medium weight cotton. Both selvages are intact on this length and have been seamed in the past.
The colors include: warm flesh toned ground, muted gold, lovely deep moss and olive greens, deep dark chocolate, pink, muted reds, and camel. A gorgeous and wonderful find. This textile would be wonderful used as a bed curtain, window curtain, lovely for many projects ideal for any collection (please see my other textiles for matching panels) (panel one). This beautiful curtain measures approx.92 inches long (7.66 feet long) by 32.5 inches wide. At the top where the fabric is gathered in tiny pleats, the width is 9.5 inches wide. This curtain is in STUNNING condition!! It is in as found condition and hasn't been freshly laundered, and there are some larger storage marks that will wash out.
