OLD antique Listed Artist Fine Art OIL PAINTING vintage Carved Picture FRAME $$

  

Norris of Rockford, ILL and it still has the label on the back of the frame. The oil painting measures 16 inches high by 20 inches across and with the picture frame 23 1/2 inches by 27 1/2 inches. The painting is signed by the artist in the lower right corner and dated 1913. As for condition there is a 5/8 inch diameter spot of paint loss in the upper left part of the painting which has about a 3/8 inch of a tear inside of it. The painting does not appear to have been cleaned before and there is some dust and old grime deposits in some of the thicker areas of paint.

The frame has some very minor ware along the bottom edge and some of the gold finish has darkened along the top edge as it has accumulated over 100 years of elements over the years which has added to the patina of the frame's finish on the top, which is quite typical with old picture frames so not really a defect. Belle Emerson Keith is listed in the published books Davenports Art Reference and Price Guide, Who Was Who in American Art and Petty's Dictionary of Women Artists. Belle Emerson Keith was influential in creating the Rockford Art Association which is now associated with the Rockford Art Museum. Not a lot of her paintings come up for sale. We will not alter the value of an item for export purposes.
