Civil war cavalry model 1840 cavalry Saber scabbard. A well used sheath that has seen the preverbal elephant. It has a slight canter to the right and a minor dent or two.... The throat is intact as well as the suspension rings and drag...
The inner spring in the throat is missing. As well are the rivets. Around the drag may have been worked on , by a pervious collector.
It measures 33 inches long over all in length.. And will handle a sword with a blade up to a 32 1/4 inch blade. This will fit SOME Ames manufactured. M1840's one old ames wrist breaker did fit..
Interchangeable , if you may have to widen or remove the the throat to make your sword fit. This is in fair condition.. It exhibits signs of pitting and hard use..
